Katy Laws

I have been teaching at Haw Creek since 2003.  It is one my greatest joys to be part of the AC Reynolds community.  At Haw Creek I have coached our retired Hoppin' Hawks jump rope team, Girls on the Run, and brought The Rocket Readers program to life with the help of many staff mates and The A.C. Reynolds High School's football program.

When students leave Haw Creek I want them to know and be able how to live a healthy and active life. Each student will be able to have the skills and confidence to move and play in a variety of different activities and sport.  Emphasizing  sportsmanship, kindness, and respect through physical activity begins in kindergarten and will carry through each student's life.

I am a 1997 Appalachian State University graduate with degrees in Physical Education and English Literature. I am a National Board Certified teacher.  I am married to Coach Shane Laws (ACR football) and we have three daughters Grace (The Citadel), Anna (University of North Carolina), and  Gia (Haw Creek). Additionally my family is blessed with Vito (big brown lab), and Grady (mischievous beagle).
