Kami Silver

Mrs. Silver

I teach Honors and Standard World History classes for grades 9-12 at Erwin High School. I, myself, am a high school graduate of Erwin. Additionally, my husband and all three of our kids graduated from Erwin (Ethan graduated in 2017, Jacob graduated in 2018, and Cecilee graduated in 2022). I have taught at Erwin since 2011 and love being here, where I can be vested and give back to the community that gave so much to me growing up. I live in Leicester with my husband Chad and our two crazy dogs.

I received my bachelor's in education in 2008 from Mars Hill University, and I completed my Master's degree in Executive Leadership from Gardner Webb University in May 2022.

I teach Social Studies because I have a passion for engaging students in daily lessons that will increase their desire to become active historians performing their own investigations into the historical material, questioning their findings, and coming to their own conclusions. I want them to be able to evaluate their findings so that they can support their conclusions with validity and multiple perspectives. I want students in my class to understand that history is basically storytelling/reporting and that it is essential to get everyone's perspective of the event that took place before forming opinions or generating responses. Students leaving my World History course will have worked diligently and gained the ability to use historical evidence to explain the concepts covered in the course and apply them in their everyday life both now and in the future.

For my Learning Management System (LMS), I use CANVAS. If you would like to be a parent observer for your student, please feel free to contact me via email, and I will respond with directions on how you can join.
