Karen Fulmer
Counselor
About me:
I have lived in the Asheville area since 1996 and love calling the mountains home. I have two grown children who graduated from AC Reynolds High School.
I began my career in counseling as a school counselor with Guilford County Schools. I earned an additional professional license and more recently worked with clients experiencing struggles with substance use in a women's treatment program. I also work with limited clients in private practice.
I have worked with students to boost academic growth as a both a Title I and NC Education Corps tutor with Buncombe County Schools.
Education
B.A in Psychology from the University of Tennessee (Go Vols!)
M.Ed. in Counseling and Development from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro
Hobbies and Interests
Much of my free time is spent with my horse, Frankie. We enjoy heading out on mountain trails whenever we can!
I am a foster for Asheville Humane Society and have fostered cats and kittens for several years. My daughter and I currently have four cats at home. ( I think that might be what they call a "clowder!")
I enjoy going for hikes on my own two feet, swimming, card games, board games, and historical fiction and documentaries.
I invite both students and parents to reach out with any questions or concerns at (828) 232-4123, ext 5202 or send a message through the secure link in the staff directory.
