Juan David Chavarro

It's a pleasure for me to be part of the Oalkey family. I have been teaching since 2015. I taught in a school in Tarboro back in the 2018-2019 school year and since 2022 here in Asheville.

I come from Bogotá, Colombia. My city is the capital of the country, so coming here to Asheville is an interesting change of scenery. Back home I lived with my mom and my two cats, Tabatha and Chiquis.

I am a product of public education, back in Bogotá I went to a public school in Bogotá called John F. Kennedy and had great teachers who inspired me to follow this path as well. I completed my teaching degree in La Gran Colombia University and graduated in September 2016. I always knew I wanted to become a teacher. As I said, I had great role models growing up and my greatest motivation is thinking on how I can change the world "one student at a time".

I like to use different communication and educational tools in my classes such as ClassDojo, Goggle Classroom, Liveworksheets, Kahoot among others.
