Joseph Ainsworth

School Counselor

Hello!

I have happily worked as a school counselor at A.C. Reynolds High School since 2018.  Prior to my professional role with Buncombe County Schools, I resided and worked in Burlington, VT in an educational setting specializing in supporting at-risk students graduate from high school and develop meaningful relationships in their lives.

I enjoy working with adolescents and helping them grow academically, emotionally, and professionally.  Navigating today's world can be challenging in a variety of ways and I have a lot of pride in helping our students make good decisions, prepare for the future, and find happiness along the way. Students should feel comfortable speaking with their school counselor when they need support with academic advising, career and college readiness, and problem solving social and emotional concerns. The ACRHS Student Services Department is always here to help!

Outside of school my favorite hobby is spending time with my wife, Abby, and our Blue Heeler/Border Collie Arlo (short for "Art Loeb" Trail). We love the outdoors; nature therapy is real! Separately, what brings me joy is running. I enjoy challenging myself physically and mentally while training for some sort of foot race, whether that be road marathons or trail adventures. Following professional sports (New England-area teams), non-fiction literature, and geography are secondary passions of mine.

I encourage any student, parent/guardian, or person interested in A.C. Reynolds High School to reach out to me if you have any questions! I look forward to connecting with you!
