Jessica Henry

8th Grade ELA and S.S. Teacher

• I am a graduate of Auburn University (B.A. in English and Masters in Secondary Education) and have many years of experience teaching both ELA and Social Studies in middle school. I started teaching at CCMS in 2015, and I was the 2020-2021 teacher of the year. My own sons attended Cane Creek, and I love teaching students at CCMS.

• My ELA classes are focused on reading both informational and fictional texts for comprehension, as well improving student writing skills. We will have a great time interacting with literature to grow our literacy skills.

• In North Carolina, 8th grade social studies is all about American history. We will learn about the United States from the 15th century to modern times.

• When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading, baking, spending time with my family, hiking, walking my dog, travel, and outdoor activities like kayaking and camping.
