Jennifer Wilson

Music Teacher

Music is more than just a treat....

We learn about beat, rhythm, pitch, reading music symbols, music vocabulary, connections between music and other subjects . We move, sing, listen, play instruments, create, work alone and work with partners.

My name is Jennifer Wilson. I am the music teacher at Sand Hill-Venable Elementary School.

  • I started teaching at SH-V in 2001 and I am proud to be a Junior Jet.

  • I believe music is an important part of education. Learning music has been shown to make connections in our brain that assist in learning other subjects. Music is also a beautiful way to express oneself.

  • I teach music because I believe it is essential in the development of the young child.

I am a product of Buncombe County Schools and for me, it has been a good place to learn and work.

    • I attended Buncombe County Schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade and graduated from A C Reynolds High School.

    • I attended Mars Hill College (now Mars Hill University) and earned my Bachelor Degree in Music Education

    • I have taught elementary music in public and private schools, and Middle and High School Chorus, but my favorite area to teach is Elementary Music.

    • I am married with one son.

    • In my free time, I love spending time with family and friends, making music at church, paper crafting with rubber stamps, driving on the curvy mountain roads in my Mini Cooper, reading, and watching old television shows and movies.
