My name is Jeff Eckler. I teach ESL to Multilingual Learners in Kindergarten through 4th Grade. I started my teaching career in Orlando, Florida in October 1994 and have been teaching ever since. I spent 13 years teaching in Orlando, FL, 8 years teaching in Atlanta, Georgia, and I have been teaching for Buncombe County Schools since August 2016. I am proud to be here at Johnston Elementary School supporting our student population to help them grow and strengthen their English Language Acquistion.

I have always wanted to be a teacher. When I was a child, I would come home from school and teach my pretend classroom with my chalkboard. I would even teach my brother what I learned in school that day. He is five years younger than me and did not want to come home and play school after being in school all day.
Teaching has always been a calling for me. I enjoy watching students acquire new knowledge and feel successful in what they do each and every day. Watching their eyes light up when they finally learn a new skill is something that always remains in my heart. I see the joy on their faces when they are successful at learning a new skill and finding an area that they feel accomplished and successful. This is the reason why I have been doing this for such a long time and will continue to do so for many years to come.
