Jason Rhodes
English Teacher
I began teaching at Reynolds High in the fall of 2022. I began my career here in 2005, and have varied experience in administration, teacher training, and alternative education.
I have Bachelor's Degrees in Communications and English from Appalachian State University and a Master's in English Education from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City.
I love working with high school students, and have spent the bulk of my teaching career with seniors. This year I have four English IV Honors courses and two English IV standard courses.
I did not start teaching until I was almost 30, and my time in other professional careers has given me great perspective in my job, and gratitude for getting to be a teacher.
Tutoring: I am available every day from 7:30 to 8:00 and 3:15 - 3:45
Professional Accolades:
2020 Buncombe County Schools Teacher of the Year
2010 Henderson County Schools Teacher of the Year
A little about me:

My wife, Alison, is a counselor at Reynolds Middle.
I was born in Los Angeles, raised mostly in the Asheville area, lived in New York, and have been back in the area since 2005.
I love reading, and my favorite authors are Cormac McCarthy, Harry Crews, and E.L. Doctorow.
I also love baseball, specifically the Dodgers and I spend too many late nights watching them.
My favorite music is older or outlaw country music, and '80's and 90's era hip-hop.
