A Little Bit About Me

Educational Experience:

    • I am a Buncombe County local and a proud graduate of A C Reynolds High school class of 1995 - Go Rockets! (and Rams!)

    • Middle Tennessee State University - 2013 - Masters of Education in Teaching English as Second Language - 4.0 Magna Cum Laude

    • Appalachian State University - 2000 -BA Spanish, TESOL Certification, & minor in Latin American Studies

Why do I Teach?

  • Hello All. I moved to Asheville when I was a child and had the amazing opportunity to come up through Buncombe County Schools. It has always been my dream to serve my community and I was originally called into teaching through my love of foreign languages and cultures. I taught in Buncombe County early in my teaching career in 2001 and 2002, but later moved to other areas and served as a K-12 ESL Teacher in Watauga County, NC, taught grades 6-12 ESL in Avery County, NC, and grades 6-8 in Shelbyville (Bedford County), Tennessee for 6 years. I returned to Buncombe County in 2016 and have been teaching in the Roberson district since then.

  • One of the passions that drives me is working with pre-adolescent and adolescent aged children as they navigate the complex challenges that arise within those intermediate and middle school years.

  • I think it's important to make connections and build relationships with students to help them flourish in an environment where they feel accepted and valued for what they can bring to the classroom experience.
