6th ELA

Welcome to Mrs. Wallin's 6th grade ELA class! We will use Google Classroom daily to view important information, lessons, and assignments.  Students will have a two-pocket folder for handouts and other important class information along with a notebook. 

We will be using Wit & Wisdom and specially designed units that we will follow all year long. Students will complete a variety of reading assignments, vocabulary activities, and writing assignments using Wit & Wisdom. Students will also work on their specific reading goals and needs using Rewards reading and vocabulary instruction. 

Here are the 6th grade ELA standards that we will be focusing on throughout the year. 

Wit & Wisdom® is our English curriculum. It builds knowledge of key topics in history, science, and literature through the study of excellent texts. By reading and responding to stories and nonfiction texts, we will build knowledge of the following topics:

Module 1: Resilience in the Great Depression

Module 2: A Hero’s Journey

Module 3: Narrating the Unknown

Module 4: Courage in Crisis
