Elizabeth Irvin

My name is Elizabeth Irvin and I am an EC teacher at Koontz Intermediate. I am originally from Catawba County, NC and graduated from Appalachian State University with a B.S in Special Education in 2004. I began my teaching career in Gaithersburg, MD where I co-taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes. There I developed a passion for teaching and mentoring children with disabilities. I moved to Asheville and began teaching at Koontz in 2015. I strive everyday to live by my personal mission statement: “Make a positive impact, big or small, on anyone who has been put in your path.” I am a strong advocate for students and families and believe that relationships are the most important part of teaching.
