Doug Hutchman
Hello BCEC and BCMC Community,
My name is Mr. Hutchman (Mr. H/Doug) and I am the College, Career and Community Coordinator. I am excited to meet you and work with you as you navigate your current and future plans for success. Whatever path you decide to take I am here to help you discover your continued journey. Feel free to stop by my office in Birch 211.
My journey began in Ohio (GO BROWNS!!) where I graduated from Muskingum College (1992). I entered the business world to discover I never wanted to be there again and moved on to the mountains of NC where I began working with adjudicated youth in a wilderness camp (1993). I earned my graduate degree in Community Agency Counseling from Clemson University while facilitating field work at the camp (1999). I learned more than I could have ever imagined. Feeling burnt out and restless, I drove my motorcycle across the country for three months to do some soul searching and returned to NC to work in the school system.
I worked at BCEC/MC from 2005-2017 in the same role that I currently hold. I recently returned to the school system after taking a healthy risk to begin a practice in neuro-energetic kinesiology which was short-lived, but incredibly powerful. I am thrilled to be back "home" at BCEC/MC. I look forward to using my life's experience to meet you where you are in life and help you reach your ultimate potential for a successful future.
I am excited to continue in my role at BCEC/MC as the College, Career, Community Coordinator. I draw inspiration from seeing students broaden their comfort zones, take healthy risks and continually develop to reach their potential. I am excited to help students on their journey to a successful future.
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends when I'm off the clock.
