Crystal DeLoughery (dě-lor-ee), Exceptional Children's Teacher

Hello! I have been teaching Exceptional Children in Buncombe County Schools since 2003.  This is my 10th year teaching at Haw Creek Elementary. I have also taught at Eblen Intermediate, Emma Elementary, Enka Middle, and West Buncombe Elementary.

I work with students in all grade levels, focusing on Academic Skills, Social Skills, and Behavioral Support.

I grew up In California, all over the state, but mostly in the San Francisco Bay Area.

In 1998, I graduated from the University of Guam with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Special Education. I taught in a Resource Language Arts class for 4.5 years at a High School on Guam after student teaching in a 4th grade Resource classroom.

In 2003, I moved to Asheville with my husband, who is also a teacher.

In 2012, I became a National Board-Certified Teacher as an Exceptional Needs Specialist-Early Childhood through Young Adulthood/Mild and Moderate Disabilities (MMD).

I have 2 children who attended Haw Creek Elementary and are now a Freshman at UNC Chapel Hill and a Sophomore at A.C. Reynolds High School.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my children and my husband, our 2 cats and our dog, hiking, reading, cooking, listening to music, and gardening.
