Erwin High School

PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. It is a balanced, proactive approach to establishing behavior norms and expectations, as well as the supports and social culture that students need to be socially, emotionally, and academically successful at Erwin High School. It is a school-wide program that includes rewarding positive behavior, consequences for negative behavior, instructional components for teaching expected behavior, and a support plan to address the needs of students.

Our system is built on five core values, which we refer to as Warrior PRIDE!

Features of a Comprehensive PBIS System

  1. Total staff commitment to managing behavior.

  2. Clearly defined and communicated expectations and rules.

  3. Clearly defined consequences for unwanted behaviors.

  4. An instructional component for teaching students expected behaviors.

  5. A support plan to address the needs of students with chronic, challenging behaviors.

  6. Procedures for acknowledging appropriate behaviors.
