Bonnie Meadows, Title 1

I have been an educator with Buncombe County Schools since 1978. Yes, you read that correctly. I started my career at Erwin Middle School where I taught 7th grade ELA, Math, and Social Studies. In 2011 I was part of the first wave of teachers to open Eblen Intermediate School. I taught 6th grade for two years before retiring after 35 years of teaching. My retirement only lasted six months! Eblen needed Title 1 reading teachers/assistants, so I came back to teaching in January 2014 and am still going strong. I love working in Title 1 where I still feel I can be a great help to the Eblen students, parents, and school.

In addition to my teaching duties, I am the sponsor for the Eblen National Jr. Beta Club. This club is very near and dear to my heart as it teaches how students can lead while helping others at our school and in our community. In fact, our club's motto is "Let Us Lead By Serving Others." Please check out the Beta Club web page on the Eblen Intermediate School website.

I am a product of Buncombe County Schools having graduated from Owen High School. I graduated from Mars Hill College (University) and began my career at Erwin Middle School teaching music, drama, and reading. The Erwin Community has been my home ever since. My blood truly runs Erwin Red!

In closing, I love the career that the good Lord mapped out for me many years ago! While I have been lucky enough to have received some honors connected with my teaching, I feel that I am most honored to have worked with the children and families in the Erwin District over four decades. There is no other place I would rather be than here at Eblen Intermediate School. Please let me know how I can help your child if I am lucky enough to have him/her as my student.
