Professional Development

As beginning teachers, participating in professional development as required or prescribed by Buncombe County Schools is necessary for your professional growth and development, and support your efforts to meet the North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards.   

You will find a vast array of professional development opportunities available to you from various sources. Some PD may be required, while some could recommended or self-selected based on your interest and/or need.

• Beginning Teacher Support Program

• Various program departments in Buncombe County Schools 

• Your school

• Your department

• Your subject area

• Frontline (AKA: My Learning Plan) district catalog

• Others (e.g., CTE Summer Conference, WRESA, state, college courses, observation of master teachers, etc.)
