Friday night football with my family ~ GO ROCKETS!

Friday night football with my family...GO ROCKETS!

Welcome to sixth grade! I look forward to building a classroom community in which we are respectful of each other and go home each day excited about learning. Teaching is my passion, and I can assure you that I am very excited about the upcoming school year.

In May of 2007, I graduated from Western North Carolina University with my Masters degree in education. For undergrad, I attended the University of North Carolina at Asheville where I received a degree in both psychology and K-6 education. For the past 18 years, Oakley Elementary has been my home. This will be my first year teaching at AC Reynolds Middle School.

I would like to tell you a little bit about myself outside of the classroom. I love, love, LOVE sports! In high school, I played volleyball, basketball, softball, and threw shot put and discus on the track team. I previously coached basketball and softball for Oakley and have been the head volleyball coach at ACRMS for the past four years. I seem to be a little addicted to reality television, though I try to limit myself to only a couple of shows per week. I also love to read. I love ALL THINGS that Jason Reynolds writes and I also love the novel Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech. My family is big, blended and beautiful!!! I have a teenage daughter named Myra, a son named Boston who attends Oakley, 5 grown step-children and 4 grandbabies. I am an outgoing, full-of-life person, and I have been lucky enough to fulfill my dream of becoming an educator.

I know that you will support me this year in helping your child meet his/her academic and social goals. I strive to help students become more independent in their study habits, but they still need to know that you and I support them. I hope that you will stay close in touch, and let me know of your questions or concerns as well as your confidence in your child’s learning. I look forward to our partnership in making this a productive and happy year for your child.
