Why  Spanish?
Being able to communicate in Spanish opens up so many doors at home and abroad.  My goal as a Spanish teacher is to instill in students both the ability and desire to grow their Spanish language proficiency.

I grew up in Chattanooga, TN  and did not start taking Spanish classes until my sophomore year of high school.  I took Latin all through middle school and into my freshman year of high school but decided to add a Spanish class my sophomore year.  Spanish quickly became one of my favorite classes.  My first trip abroad was with my high school to Costa Rica. This trip made me want to keep studying the language so that I would be able to return and better communicate with the people in the community.  I was able to return to Costa Rica on a college study abroad trip and got so much more out of the experience because my ability to communicate with people in Spanish.

I moved to Kentucky to attend Centre College in Danville, Kentucky.  After graduating with a Spanish and Education degree, I taught elementary and middle school Spanish for 2 years in small rural Kentucky public school district before making the switch to a more urban setting in Lexington, Kentucky, where I taught high school Spanish for 8 years.
