Hi and welcome to my homepage! My name is Amy Jamerson and I'm very excited to be the 5th grade counselor at North Windy Ridge for the Class of 2031. This is my 26th year in Buncombe County Schools. I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education at Appalachian State in 1998. I've always had a special love of the North Buncombe district where I began my teaching career at North Buncombe Elementary teaching 4th grade. I then had the privilege of teaching 5th grade Math and Science at North Windy Ridge. After teaching for ten years, I decided to pursue my Master's in School Counseling at Western Carolina University. I was a 6th-8th grade counselor at Enka Middle School for five years until 2013, when I came back home to North Windy Ridge.
Fifth and sixth graders are so much fun - definitely my favorite age! I love working with kids to help support them through the academic, emotional, and social challenges of life at this stage. I also enjoy getting to know students' families and teachers and working together to help make your child's time here at North Windy Ridge successful and enjoyable. I work with all 5th grade students through classroom counseling lessons. I also work with students in small counseling groups as well as individually as needed.
