Welcome! I am the choral director at Enka Middle School. I have been teaching since 1997, and I've been at Enka Middle since 1998. I have three bachelor degrees from Mars Hill (College when I was there) University - Music Education, Vocal Performance, and Middle Grades Language Arts.
I grew up all over the Southeast - Mississippi, Texas, Kentucky, and North Carolina. My husband and I have two sons, a nineteen-year-old and a fourteen-year-old. In my "spare" time, I sing with my church choir, teach private piano and voice lessons, and attend lots of soccer games, marching band performances/competitions, winter percussion performances/competitions, and concert band performances with my sons.
Choir at Enka Middle is a great place to be. Many of the students in choir feel that it is a family, a place to belong instead of just another class. Most choir students begin with the class in seventh grade and stay with the choir until they leave for the high school.
We have attended the North Carolina Music Educators' Association State Music Performance Adjudication for several years, and we always receive either an Excellent rating or a Superior rating at this festival. There are also opportunities for students to be involved in extra-curricular activities such as NCMEA Middle School Honors Chorus, NCMEA All-State Chorus, and the Buncombe County Schools All-County Chorus.
We (usually) have concerts planned for each nine weeks, with our variety show in the spring. Please see list to the left for all concerts. I know this year is going to be awesome!
