Visual Arts

I have been teaching since 2001, and I've been at Glen Arden since 2006. I taught special education here until 2020, when I moved into the role of Art Teacher. I love getting to teach every student in the school, and watching them grown as artists. It is so much fun!

I am a proud product of North Carolina public schools. I grew up in eastern North Carolina. I came to the mountains to study art education at UNC-Asheville in 1996 and never left. I love living in this wonderful community.

In addition to my degree in art, I have a Masters of Arts in Teaching in Special Education from Western Carolina University. I became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2008. Teaching is one of my favorite things to do. Outside of school, I enjoy yoga, creating art, and spending time with my family.

My favorite part of teaching art is helping kids to develop a GROWTH MINDSET. We celebrate mistakes in art class, because mistakes help our brains grow.
