Alex Chambers

I teach 7th grade ELA and coach both the boys' and girls' soccer teams. I have been living in WNC since 2005. I moved here from central Oregon to attend Warren Wilson College. I earned a degree in English Literature in 2009 from Warren Wilson . In 2018 I earned my teaching certificate from UNC Asheville after doing my student teaching at North Buncombe Elementary

I have been teaching at Cane Creek since 2018. I have taught 7th grade ELA that whole time. In 2019, I coached track, and in the fall of 2019, I began coaching soccer.

I am blessed with a wonderful family which includes my wife who teaches art at Glen Arden Elementary School, and my sons Loki, Jack, and Orion. With three boys at home its definitely a full house, but I like to think that I'm constantly learning valuable lessons I can apply in my classroom.

As an ELA teacher I always get asked what my favorite book is. I would have to say that my favorite book is "Neverwhere" by Neil Gaiman. However, I also have a fond spot in my heart for books by Haruki Murakami, and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. As a soccer fanatic I support Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League, NC Courage in the NWSL, and of course Asheville City Soccer Club locally. I eat sleep and breathe soccer, but my other hobbies include gardening, backpacking, cooking, and reading.
