Adam Stewart
Mr. Stewart is the director of bands at Cane Creek Middle School in Fletcher, NC.
Mr. Stewart is a native of Rockwell, NC and received his Bachelor of Science in Music Education at Western Carolina University in 2011. While attending WCU he studied drill writing under Bob Buckner, trombone performance under Dr. Dan Cherry, and held various leadership roles within the award winning Pride of the Mountains Marching Band. In 2019, he became a National Board Certified Teacher in Early Adolescence and Young Adulthood Music Education.
Mr. Stewart began his professional teaching career with Haywood County Schols in 2011 where he worked at both the high school and middle school levels overseeing concert bands, marching bands, percussion ensembles, jazz ensembles, winterguard, and winter percussion programs.
In 2024, Mr. Stewart was recognized by the North Carolina Symphony as the recipient of the Jackson Parkhurst Award for Special Achievement. His bands have received accolades in both musical and visual performance with students participating in honors bands at the district, region, state, and national levels. He has written drill for bands in North Carolina and Tennessee and is an active member of the North Carolina Bandmasters Association and the National Band Association.
Mr. Stewart currently serves as the Jazz Chair for Western Region Bands of North Carolina.
In his free time, Adam enjoys hiking, fishing, and spending time with his wife, Miranda, his son, Dakota, and his dog, River.
