Ms. Martinez and son Rodrigo at his Rocket Class of 2025 Graduation.
My name is Ms. Martinez and I'm excited to be your teacher this year!
I'm originally from Honduras, the belly button of Central America! After graduating High School I had the opportunity to be a teacher assistant for a small school and that is when I realized teaching was something I wanted to pursue. I really enjoyed the time in the classroom with the children and got fascinated on how their learning was shaped through the activities they experienced daily in school. I graduated from Universidad Pedagogica Nacional Francisco Morazan ( Tegucigalpa, Honduras) on 2014 with a Bachelor in Elementary Bilingual Education. After completing college I taught K- 5 ESL at a private bilingual school for 8 years.
In 2018, my son Rodrigo and I moved to North Carolina as part of an exchange program for teachers participating in a Spanish Immersion Program. The program was framed for 5 years but after living in WNC, exploring the scenic views, experiencing the four seasons and making such good friends; I decided Asheville was our home away from home. Rodrigo, my son, is a proud Rocket Class of 2025 and now he attends University of the Cumberlands in Kentucky, where he plays football and studies Business Management. I am a proud mom!
2024 was my first year at Bell Elementary and Buncombe County Schools. I can not be more grateful to be part of such an amazing community and look forward to the years to come and serve.
Strong relationships are key for success. Getting to know my students opens the pathway for a safe class environment where each one of them feel loved, appreciated and respected. Creating a sense of belonging is one of my top priorities. Everyone is important in our class daily success! I believe in empowering each student for them to discover their best way of learning through intentional activities that shape their knowledge and character.
I'm happy to be here and be part of this lovely community, can't wait to see what the future brings to Bell Elementary and our 5th grade !
