Abigail Myers

Hello! My name is Abigail Myers, or Ms. Myers to my students! I have been teaching second grade at Johnston Elementary School since 2020. I love being a Mighty Bear!

I have wanted to be a teacher since I was in first grade. At first it was to decorate bulletin boards and read books (I was 6). As I have made it further in my career, I have fallen in love with teaching for different reasons. I love that I can advocate for my students and teach them to advocate for themselves. I also believe that all students deserve access to equitable education. Of course, fun outfits, books, and decorating is fun too! 

I am not an Asheville native. I was raised in northern Indiana and moved to Asheville for college. I graduated with honors from Western Carolina University with a degree in elementary education and a minor in English. When I am not teaching, I love to sew, craft, and spend time with my family and cats! 

If you need to contact me you can:

• message me on ClassDojo (I typically do not respond after 4:00)

• send a note in your student's take-home folder (these will be checked and sent home daily)

• call the front office during school hours (7:30-4:00)

Other Important Information:

• I will be sending home a monthly newsletter with updated information

• I do not assign homework but I do strongly encourage 20 minutes of reading nightly!

• there will be no out of school work or projects
