Vision
“Not yet.”
In my classroom, my students learn the power behind these two words. There is no “I can’t do it” or “I can’t get this.” I enforce in my students’ learning that mistakes pave their way to success! For learners of any age, it can be difficult to embrace a mindset of growth, especially when tackling uncharted subjects. It takes an attentive educator to recognize these inner thoughts of doubt and praise these learners for their devotion to improvement. I strive for my learners to experience success in their individual ways each day, demonstrated through productive struggles from a critical, engaged mind. What I aim to achieve in my classroom is a community in which we experiment, engage, converse, and question as one unit, developing understanding through constructive feedback among individuals. Some days we struggle but with effort and time, we can more fully understand “I can’t get this yet.”
I believe my students connect better to the content when they understand their needs are being taken into account. Educating is an act of service in which I believe teachers must show grace, love, and care! An extension of this care is what I can provide academically, for my students require tasks that are differentiated, attainable, scaffolded, and modeled.
The purpose of education is to create life-long learners, those who crave discovery, pursue truth, and share knowledge. I teach learners not subjects; I engage the whole learner as they are--emotional, intellectual, social beings. I love my Bell Elementary community and welcome you to our family!
