All About

Mrs. Steele

I consider South Carolina home, but my family moved quite a bit, because my father was in the Air Force. I attended and graduated from Fort Dorchester High School, being an SRI Patriot was meant to be! My husband and I live in Summerville with our two dogs. We spend a lot of time outdoors, but I do enjoy curling up on the couch to read a good book or to watch a funny movie.

The 2019-2020 school year was my first year as a school counselor! I am very excited to be part of the SRI family. Prior to becoming a Patriot, I taught kindergarten, third grade, fourth grade, and was a reading interventionist. I have worked with children since I was a freshman in high school. I knew my passion at an early age, which led me to getting my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education at the College of Charleston. During my under graduate internship I decided I wanted to try and do more for my students. I then attended The Citadel Graduate College and received my Master’s Degree in Counselor Education.

My promise to you as your student’s school counselor…

I will be an advocate for all students. I want not only my teachers to believe in the children they teach, but for my students to believe in themselves. There are certain things in life we can’t control. I promise to help my students learn and understand ways they can handle the unexpected and uncontrollable events. Most of all, I promise to make sure every student knows they are loved, they matter, and that they are enough.
