6th Grade / Beginner Band
6th Grade / Beginner Band
This band is for beginners. The primary goal is to learn how to read music, use correct posture, and become proficient in fundamental performance technique. We will cover The Habits of a Successful Beginner Musician book and learn to play grade one music by the end of the year.
7th & 8th Grade Band
This band is for advanced students who successfully complete beginner band. The primary goal is to learn how to read higher level music, learn advanced skills like small ensemble and solo performance, and go to competitions. Students in 7th & 8th grade are eligible to audition for BCSD, Region, and All-State Honor Bands. Students in 8th grade will also have the opportunity to be a member of the Berkeley High School marching band if approved by Mr. Turner.
