WELCOME TO FIRST GRADE! 

     I am very excited for our year together!

I am proud to say that West Patent has been my home for 29 years. I began my career here as a Kindergarten teacher and taught K for 15 years before I graduated to First Grade.  First Grade is an amazing year of growth for children socially and academically.  It is my goal to instill a love of learning in a happy and safe classroom. I strive to create an environment that all my students feel supported, inspired, included and most importantly loved.  Our class motto is: be kind, be respectful and be considerate.  Here's to a great school year!

Welcome To First Grade!

I am thrilled to be a first grade teacher at WPES!  I have been a teacher for 21 years and enjoyed every moment. I taught kindergarten for 15 years and first grade for 6 years and counting.  I have my Masters Degree as a Literacy Specialist and I am certified to teach PreK through 6 grade.  My students are very important to me and I truly enjoy watching them grow. Their curiosity and eagerness to learn is infectious. Each day is an opportunity to learn something new.  My goal is to create a classroom with students who are kind, considerate and respectful. They will have a positive outlook on learning and life. Everyone in our class is a superstar learner and will rock first grade!  I am looking forward to a fantastic year creating timeless memories. 

My name is Michele McGuinness. I have been teaching in the Bedford Central School District since 1999. Currently, I work with kindergarten and first grade students at West Patent Elementary School.  I am a mom to three children. I have a high schooler, a middle schooler and a second grader. I am looking forward to a great year of un and learning with my students!
