Dan Borns - Choir Director

Borns is in his 25th year of teaching high school and middle school choir and is excited to begin his first year as Choral Director at Columbus North High School, where he leads six ensembles: Vocal Pointe, North Stars, Northern Lights, 25th Street Singers, Concert Choir, and Festival Choir.
Prior to joining Columbus North, his teaching career included positions at Batesville High School and Middle School, Greenwood Community High School, North Decatur Jr.-Sr. High School, and Fort Wayne Northrop High School, as well as serving as a graduate assistant in Performance Choral Conducting at Bowling Green State University.
Mr. Borns earned his Bachelor’s in Music Education from IPFW (Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne) and holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Grand Canyon University.
Ensembles under his direction consistently earn gold ratings and high marks at district and state solo/ensemble and organizational contests. Notably, he has guided student ensembles to the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) State Finals across Concert Choir, Vocal Jazz, and Show Choir divisions. As both a conductor and singer, he has participated in acclaimed clinic and festival performances on tours across the United States, Canada, and Europe, including serving as the principal choir conductor for the Indiana Ambassadors of Music European tour in 2018, 2023, and 2025.
An active adjudicator and clinician throughout Indiana, Mr. Borns has conducted for Circle the State with Song and frequently judges ISSMA events. A 29-year member of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) and a long-time member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), he currently serves as President-Elect for Indiana ACDA (ICDA). His past leadership roles with the organization include Indiana District 8 Representative, Repertoire & Resources Chair for both Women’s Choir and High School Mixed Choir, and Indiana Youth Coordinator.
Mr. Borns remains dedicated to advocating for high-quality, fulfilling music education for every student across the state.
