For each elementary band student, a parent/guardian must complete the agreement below:

Monday Evening, May 13 at Columbus East High School

Free Concert; a $3 per family donation is suggested

We are excited to present this concert to parents, friends, and family! Please read through the details below. The number one thing you can do to help us this evening will be to have your student to the rehearsal on time; if we can minimize late arrivals, we’ll be assured a smooth rehearsal experience -thank you!

Schedule:

  Arrival/Drop Off: 6:00-6:25 pm

  Parents Enter: 7:15 pm

  Concert Starts: 7:30 pm

  Concert Ends (approx.): 7:50 pm

Arrival/Drop Off:  Students should be seated on stage ready to rehearse no later than 6:30 pm. Students should have their instrument (in the case) and music book and sheet music with them -the entrance is marked on the diagram.

Concert Dress:  Suggested attire: nice slacks, dress shirt; a skirt or dress that goes past the knees. Students, please do not wear sweats or t-shirts with large logos, or sandals.  Do not wear the BCSC band t-shirt.

Audience Enters:  We’ll open up the auditorium for everyone at 7:20 PM.

Concert Starts:  We’ll start the concert at 7:30 PM. The concert will be about 20 minutes long.

After the Concert:  Parents, please double-check that your student has remembered to take their instrument and music with them.

Concert Expectations

STANDARD PROCEDURE:

The combined BCSC elementary band will perform at this evening’s concert.  This required concert is a part of the curriculum for all band students.

 

6:00 PM Students begin arriving.

   * The Auditorium is closed during the rehearsal.


6:30 PM Student rehearsal begins promptly at 6:30 on the auditorium stage.  Please be on time!

   * Parents may wait in the auditorium foyer.


7:30 PM Concert begins!

   * The auditorium doors will open for parents at 7:20 PM; concert will last about 20 minutes.

 

* Students should dress up for the concert.  Suggested attire:  dresses, skirts, slacks, nice shoes, nice sweater or button-down shirt, tie.  Please do not wear jeans, sweats, sweatshirts, or t-shirts with logos/text.  Do not wear the band t-shirt for this event.

Cleaning & Maintaining Your Instrument

Maintain your instrument by cleaning the mouthpiece once a week.  Woodwinds: swab out each day you play.  Brass: Oil trumpet/euphonium valves and trombone slides twice a week; French horn every two weeks.  Move all tuning slides in/out each day you play; grease them if they become hard to move, or at least once a month.
