What is the difference between synchronous and asynchronous sessions?
Synchronous: Synchronous learning is a training activity in which all learners are participating simultaneously in real-time and it is highly time-related.
Asynchronous: The instructor, the learner, and other participants are not engaged in the learning process at the same time. There is no real-time interaction with other people.
How will I access the synchronous sessions? There is a Zoom link for each session on the Detailed Agenda.
What do I have to do to have access to Zoom? You can access Zoom through the links provided for each keynote/breakout session, but you may be required to download an application on a computer or an app on your phone. If you have used Zoom before, it may require an update.
How can I access the asynchronous sessions?
They are available on the UDL Virtual Summer Institute web page under “Asynchronous Sessions”. You simply click on the one(s) you want to complete. You will be directed to a google form. After you complete the form and submit it, a certificate with the PGP’s for completing the session will be sent to your email address.
Do I have to participate in both days to receive professional growth points for licensure renewal?
No, you may participate in as many, or as few, as you prefer or your schedule allows you to.
How do I get my participation certificate(s)? For the synchronous sessions, you will fill out the “Exit Ticket” for each of the sessions you attend. Once submitted you will receive a certificate via email for each session exit ticket you complete. For the asynchronous sessions, you will receive a certificate for each session you complete by completing the session.
Will the sessions be recorded? Yes
How can I get access to the recorded sessions? The recorded sessions will be posted on the UDL Summer Institute website for access once they are processed.
What do I do if I need technical support during the institute? If you experience technical difficulties, we have limited support for device failures for BCSC employees. Please put in a 360 with contact information and specify that you are attending the UDL Institute. All sessions will be recorded so you will be able to access content if you have technical difficulties in a particular session. Always try restarting your device and make sure you are connected to a reliable internet connection.
What if I do not have my BCSC device yet? Please contact your supervisor.
