School Library Media Specialists are noted as "instructors as well as collaborators" who "play a key instructional role in successful schools" in the Position Statement, Instructional Role of the School Librarian (AASL, 2017). Library instruction is a critical part of connecting to and supporting core classroom instruction. Librarians provide learner-centered instruction that enables learners to explore, think critically and engage in 21st century skills.
