Considerations
During the school year, a BCPL representative from the Loch Raven branch, worked with me to provide extra books for PROJLIT and Clash of the Covers. She also came to our Back-to-School Night to share information with students and parents.
The Teacher Loan program was also highlighted during the school year. It always help to provide refreshers at the beginning of the school year.
Spreading the word regarding the BCPL partnership and the resources they offer is important. Whether you use Smore, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram, highlighting the materials that BCPS students have access to is key.
Impact on the library program and students and/or teachers:
Continuing to spread the word during the remote learning experience was key.
BCPL resources were highlighted in a Smore newsletter (see the May 2020 edition).
BCPL resources were shared in tweets.
I used Schoology to spread the word and shared BCPL resources during live tutorials using Google Meet to students and parents.
Teachers are members of the library Schoology page, as well. It was a great tool that led to a virtual class visit.
During our virtual classes, I visited virtual classrooms to provide live tutorials.
In the future, I would like to use their virtual options as a possible resource for the school community.
