GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform skilled work on one or more of the maintenance crews:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
General knowledge of the common practices, tools, terminology and safety precautions of a trade; general knowledge of the use and characteristics of common building materials; skill in the use of tools and equipment associated with particular trade; ability to work from sketches, drawings, plans or specifications; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to estimate needed materials and time required for various jobs; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma/GED or completion of vocational courses.
Minimum of five years experience in the trade and license for journeyman positions.
A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling. Ability to lift 100 lbs.
ESSENTIAL TASKS:

Operate, maintain and repair tools and equipment associated with trade.
Perform the maintenance requirements of assigned schools/facilities in a geographic zone through work orders, preventative maintenance requirements, emergency calls, etc.
Aid in reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, drawings and specifications.
Assist with parts and material procurement.
Handle two-way communication with dispatch, other craftsmen and supervisor.
Maintain clean, safe and orderly work space.
Operate a work vehicle and ensure it is maintained and well stocked..
Perform related work as required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates will need to complete requirements to obtain a Virginia Commercial Driver’s License. Minimum Class B, or Class A.
Completion of all requirements of the bus driver training program offered by the school system.
