Dear Students and Parents,

Here are some "notes" that are important for your child to be successful.

In Parent Portal......if you receive a ZERO in a catagory check to see if there is a little icon that informs you that it is "missing". This means that you either were absent and need to make it up, or it could mean that you haven't finished it and need to complete it. The zero will go away as soon as you complete the hw, quiz, test, or classwork. That is why I mark it as "missing". Now, on the other hand, if you have a zero and it doesn't have a "missing" it means that you were present but did not have the assignment with you or didn't follow instructions or did the wrong assignment or something like that and it cannot be made up. AGAIN: When a student misses class and a grade is taken during that class, I will insert a zero as that grade and mark it with a code that says "Missing". This zero effects their grade only until it is made up. Once the student is back in class and makes up the grade I will update the grade and remove the zero. Please don't feel that I am penalizing your child for missing class....I just want to make sure they make up the "Missing" grade.

Million Dollar Question: "Do you give extra credit?" my answer: "Extra credit questions will be offered periodically on tests and quizzes." Please do not get into a grade "hole" situation and try to "extra credit" your way out. Plan to do well on all graded assignments, assessments and homework and you will not need extra credit!!!

Note: Students are required to use a PENCIL in math!!! Make sure you have one each and every day!

Note: Grade weights are as follows:

Homework: 10% Classwork: 20% Quizzes: 30% Tests: 40%

Note: The Make Up Work policy states: If a student is absent for any reason, he or she will be expected to make up all work. It is the student's responsibility the day he or she returns from the absence to ask teachers for any assignments. The student will then have one (1) day for each day absent to turn in missed assignments. With advanced notice, I can get here at 8:00 and that is a good time to come in to have time to make up quiz/tests.

Students who are absent: I highly recommend that you visit the online textbook and explore all the resources/instruction it offers to help you catch up. Also, students have visited youtube and searched the topic you missed and let the various video instructors there help you.
