The Office of Special Education's Transition Unit is currently accepting applications for our Age-Appropriate Programs (AAP) at the Baltimore Transition Connection (BTC) and Project SEARCH for SY 24-25. Information about BTC and Project SEARCH can be found here. Please review the eligibly requirements for each program gather the following materials electronically before beginning the application process as they will have to be uploaded to the application:
Copy of the student's current IEP snapshot
Copy of the student's 1st semester report card for SY 23-24
Copy of the student's transcript
Copy of the student's immunization record
Copy of the student's most recent psychological assessment
The student response to the following: The student can write, type a Word document, draw a picture, or record a video to meet this requirement. 1. Must have completed 4 years in HS,
On certificate track
Documented intellectual disability
18 years of age or older
90% attendance rate
current IEP and related services must have the ability to be implemented at the BTC program
A level of independence (does not require intense behavioral or adult supports
Be able to sort, count, follow models
Have a basic understanding of academic concepts including decoding, reading comprehension, writing, and math skills.
Have no significant interfering behaviors. These behaviors include, but are not limited to: elopement, emotional outbursts, destructive tendencies, etc.

Social Worker. The program is
Managed by District office Educational Specialist who is not physically present daily

Recent psychological assessment
Level of independence (does not require intense behavioral or adult supports)
Ability to travel alone to and from work-based learning internships at the UMD campus
