FAQ

Q: Can educators log into virtual PD sessions and the morning virtual opening from home?

A: No, all City Schools’ employees must engage in virtual professional learning from City Schools’ sites – either in the same building where they attend in-person sessions (Content Sites) or at their schools. Additional classrooms, cafeteria, or auditorium space will be reserved to accommodate teachers staying for virtual sessions at the content sites. If you are attending virtual sessions, you may find it helpful to bring your own headphones.

Q: Will there be parking at the content sites?

A: Since we are using school buildings as PD host sites, we know that parking may be a challenge. We ask for your patience and understanding. Please use the schools’ parking lots and nearby streets, and be sure to avoid parking in restricted spaces. Teachers attending PD at Poly/Western campus are asked to carpool.

Q: Is registration required?

A: Yes, all City Schools’ employees must register for the sessions prior to attending. Registration data allows our facilitators better prepare for the sessions, so that they can support their participants’ needs. All educators are expected to register by 11:59 pm on Wednesday, November 15th.

Q: Do I need to turn my camera on during virtual learning sessions?

A: Yes, starting in SY23-24, all facilitators and participants of virtual learning will be required to have their cameras on. This is a part of the virtual learning etiquette and employees’ professional responsibilities. Simply put, it is a matter of collegiality and professional respect: being engaged, present, and avoiding multitasking and distractions makes any virtual session a better use of everyone’s time! This rule does not apply to the morning virtual openings.

Q: Will lunch  be provided?

A: We are unable to provide breakfast or lunch; however, we are bringing food trucks to all content sites. Educators are responsible for for their own food purchases.

Q: I am attending a “By Invitation Only” Session; it is not listed in the catalog. Do I still register for it using the general registration link?

A: Yes, please. We are ensuring that we are capturing accurate attendance records for all educators.

Q: I am a substitute teacher. Can I attend Systemic PD?

A: Yes! Please browse the offered sessions and look for “All Educators” in the Differentiation box. You are also welcome to attend sessions designated for Paraprofessionals.
