A Message from the Principal

Happy August Lakeland Families,

It  is an honor and my pleasure to welcome you to the  2023 – 2024 school year. I hope that you have had a chance to relax and refresh. Whether you are cooking, reading or enjoying an outdoor activity with your family, take the opportunity to relax, refresh and reconnect with family and loved ones.

Taking time to slow down and appreciate the little things in life, before we know it, our babies are all grown up and moving out of the house. I am extremely proud to start my ninth year at Lakeland serving as your Principal.

Lakeland is a special community that I hold near and dear to my heart, a place where ALL students can be successful, a place where students learn to advocate for themselves and the needs of the community. A place where families feel welcome and engage with their children’s teachers to educate the whole child. A place where we pursue/instill Hope in our scholars and families. Because people with Hope have goals, have motivation to pursue them and a determination to overcome obstacles that might come their way. These people are our future- Our Lakeland Lions!

Lakeland is family to me. I believe in our teachers, my own children attend Lakeland. I believe in our ability to educate scholars by providing opportunities and experiences for them to grow. I believe that you are partners in the work because it takes a village to raise productive citizens in today’s society.  It is our mission that with enthusiasm, dedication and patience, we create a safe learning community, full of opportunities, that challenges all individuals in our Lakeland family to explore, grow, and achieve.

As we prepare for the upcoming year, we have worked hard to bring in additional resources, new staff members, and partners to make this a wonderful year! In preparation for the school year, we have minimized school supply purchases provided by families. We ask that you provide a water bottle, backpack and uniforms for the year. All students can wear plain white, navy-blue or gray collared shirts and navy blue, khaki or gray pants.

Our staff will be ready for you this Fall, and each grade band will have an administrator serving as the primary point of contact to support students and Families.

Looking forward to seeing you on Monday, August 28th at 8:45am, breakfast will be at 8:15am in the cafeteria!

Appreciate you,

Cori Garcia
