The FGS program benefits IAFF Fire Fighters through training for life threatening situations while on the fire ground; it will SAVE LIVES! The IAFF provides a cadre of Master Instructors to Train the Trainer in both theory and practical portions of the course. We are thankful to former 6th District Vice-President Michael Hurley for advocating for the Truck and Trailer. currently, Local 323 member, Master Trainer Kris Anderson is our FGS Coordinator.
The purpose of the IAFF Fire Ground Survival program is to ensure that training for Mayday prevention and Mayday operations are consistent between all fire fighters, company officers and chief officers. Fire fighters must be trained to perform potentially life-saving actions if they become lost, disoriented, injured, low on air or trapped
