History of the Art Show

The first SELPA ERMHS Art Show was held in May of 2016. The event was dreamed up by SELPA Clinician, Courtney Besotes, who was working in a high school classroom at the time. Courtney hoped that the art show would provide students with an opportunity to demonstrate their expertise and creativity. That first event showcased the art of 13 students from four classes across the county. The show was held in the BCOE Boardroom and included a lunch reception for participants, classmates, staff, and caregivers. Students were recognized by the Superintendent and other special guests. They were also given the opportunity to talk about their art pieces with the group- a tradition that has continued year to year.

This annual event has grown in participants, art pieces, and reception size each year. The show took a break during the 2019-2020 school year due to COVID-19, but we are happy to bring it back in this digital format for the 2020-2021 school year. We hope you enjoy this opportunity to recognize and honor the expertise and creativity of our SELPA ERMHS students.
