Decolonising Economics
Economics of Queerness Event Series Illustration

This illustration was commissioned by Nonhlanhla Makuyana and Guppi Bola for a series of events that explored the way LGBTQ+ Black people and people of colour create alternative economic systems. 

I chose to include an intergenerational and interspecies conversation circle to showcase one of the events in the series titled "Across the Decades" and to bring in my own perspective that non-human living organisms should be included in conversations around alternatives to environmentally damaging mainstream economic systems. I also included sexual health, trans healthcare and resources such as food, books and gardening supplies to showcase ideas listed in another event "Organising for Solidarity Systems" that explored how to build new solidarity systems and share resources amongst our community when the State doesn't provide and look out for us.
