About
I'm Han, a British-Japanese queer illustrator from London. My work is inspired by the small and quiet moments of everyday life, my cultural heritage and the natural world. I feel passionate about supporting community-oriented projects and projects that fight against structural inequalities. I hold an MA from Central Saint Martins in Contemporary Photography; photography is the first art form I got really interested in, and I often use my own photographs as references for my illustrations. I'm also a tattoo artist practicing fine line machine tattooing in Egungun Studio, a QTIBIPOC run and owned tattoo studio in East London.
I have a variety of work experience- from leading volunteers in a food bank to working in public libraries and co-running an ESEA zine collective - all of which I believe informs my creative practice, work ethic and the perspectives I bring to my work.
My previous illustration clients include Fragments of Grief, Healing Justice London, Decolonising Economics, Remember and Resist, Daikon* Zine, and I have a rolling contract illustrating book covers for Hajar Press.
I have sold my illustration work and comics at Thought Bubble Festival, Illustrators' Fair, CCA Glasgow and Lower Stable Street Market in Kings Cross, London.
