Space Shuttle Research

Bio

Robert Cato III was in the Advanced Geometry course when he did his research project. His current homeschool is Pennfield High School. After high school he plans on attending Western Michigan and then MIT where he plans on going into the Aerospace Engineering major. Robert hopes to work with NASA or another company that works with outer space. He is very passionate about education and the space frontier. He plays varsity tennis at Pennfield and is hoping to restart the rocketry team at BCAMSC. His favorite memory of the Math and Science Center is testing out of Geometry as he was the only person to test out and he knew that testing out of Geometry would open more doors and time for the future.

Abstract

Throughout the end of first semester, the mechanics and details of space shuttle flight were collected. Some mechanics include the workings of the engines, the launch trajectories, launch forces, as well as returning to Earth from orbit. The Space Shuttle program ended over 5 years ago, but the science behind the launches and program continue to be applicable to this day.

Robert will be presenting in room 205 at 8:20 AM
