Alyssa has a diverse background in nursing, with clinical experience spanning from critical care to home health, and a passion for care of older adults, palliative care, and public health. Her research focuses on loneliness of older adult caregivers, with an emphasis on understanding how healthcare systems can better support care partners throughout the caregiving trajectory. In addition to her clinical and research interests, Alyssa is passionate about teaching, mentoring, and supporting student and novice nurses.  

"Hi, I'm Liv, and I've been a nurse since 2018. I had the chance to study social engagement within a Dutch intergenerational nursing home during my bachelor's program and received my master's of science in Vitality and Ageing four years later in Leiden, Netherlands. My research interests are in dyadic behavioral interventions as well as the role that communication plays in optimizing mental health outcomes for care partners navigating an early-dementia diagnosis. I'm currently a second-year Ph.D student in Nursing and apart from school I enjoy yoga, running, improv theater, and snuggling with my cat Stella :) "
