Welcome to the William Shemin Midtown Community School instrumental music lesson registration website!
WSMCS Students who will be in grades 4 through 8 for the 2024-2025 school year are eligible to join our school band or orchestra. This website will provide you with resources for choosing the right instrument for your child, links to our district's rental company Elefante Music, and our online registration form that will connect you directly with your school's music teacher, Mr. Puchinsky.
If your child is interested in joining the MCS Band or our Electronic Music Project, please complete your online form AND rental form no later than June 7th, 2024!
Remember, you are signing up your child for lessons for the 2024-25 school year! Students who sign up now will have first pick of available school instruments and students who choose to rent will have their instruments ready for the first day of school!

Choosing the right instrument is so important! You should choose an instrument that you enjoy listening to, because you're going to need to practice making a sound on this instrument every day! We have a list of every instrument we offer, and videos so you can LISTEN to each instrument and learn about each one so you can make the right decision.

Deciding on how you want to acquire your instrument is a personal choice. You can choose to RENT, ask to BORROW a school instrument (if available), or to PURCHASE an instrument. Our second step page will guide you through the pros and cons of each choice. We understand that renting or purchasing an instrument can be very costly for some families, but there are much less costly ways to participate! Please check out our Step 2 page for all of the details.
Step 3 is simple - just complete our ONLINE FORM to join the MCS Band! If you are renting an instrument you'll also have to complete the rental process at the Elefante Music website, but if you are purchasing an instrument, playing percussion or electronic music, or requesting to borrow a school instrument, the form is your final step!
