The Tri-M® Music Honor Society, a program of NAFME: The National Association for Music Education, recognizes music students for their efforts and accomplishments in music on the basis of musicianship, scholarship, character, leadership, and service to their school and community. The organization’s high standards serve to challenge students to greater effort and achievement and to encourage the pursuit of excellence.

 Tri-M encourages chapters to grant honorary membership to dedicated adults who are active in furthering the cause of music and music education and who have contributed to local, national, or international musical culture. Throughout Tri-M’s more than fifty-year history, a number of impressive musicians, music supporters, and music enthusiasts have become honorary members.
