ELA: We are finishing up our reading of Midsummer Night's Dream, working through our end of the year iReady Reading benchmark, and finishing up our letters to our special people!
SS: We are deep in the planning for our BeeHive presentations! Thank you to all our volunteers for this exciting event! There are still openings for anyone who would like to participate. Please reach out if you can serve as a King or Queen Bee (refer to my previous email with the subject "Project BeeHive" for information).
You know when you're doing something that you need to share with others, and then you start doing another thing that should be shared, and another thing...and eventually there are just so many things and the thought of communicating it all seems too daunting and you find yourself delaying because who has the time, really?
Well, here we are.
This will not be succinct. It WILL be divided into categories if that helps. And none of this is "need-to-know" stuff; just things I would like to know if I was a parent in this D203 world.
Letters
If only you could read all these letters. Honestly, my heart grows exponentially with each letter I edit with these kids...and I'm not even the recipient. It is a magical thing that is happening in D203, and I can't wait for the intended audience to receive them. Our goal of "Make someone's day better" has never been more evident than in these thoughtfully written and carefully considered pieces of writing. As we will be mailing them from school, you won't get to see the finished product, but their drafts are in their composition notebooks and on a paper coming home on Monday. Please, take a look and feel the love that is around us every day. It's pretty spectacular.
Work in Progress books
Speaking of spectacular😂, hopefully you got the chance to read these absolutely bonkers stories. Your authors really came through in a big way by getting their portions done in a reasonable time so we were able to get the books made (huge thanks to CVCC for publishing them for us!)!
Secret Service
And on the subject of huge thanks, we had the opportunity to meet and learn from some very special adults - 2 Secret Service agents came and presented information to our 5th grade about staying safe online and making choices that allow us and those we love to be seen in a positive light, both now and in the future. I could go on and on about this (and had I kept up with these updates, this one would be exclusively about this presentation). Please ask your 5th grader about this incredible opportunity, and if needed, use it as a way to open up a dialogue about how to make sure the people we love most stay safe in any environment they find themselves in.
BeeHive
We're moving through our study on economics and can't wait to present to our BeeHive Panel on June 1!
