Dear Kindergarten Families,
Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and spent some time outdoors enjoying the beautiful sunshine. Today was the 10th Day of Kindergarten! I continue to be so very proud of all of my kindergarten students. They all are catching on to all of our school and classroom rules and procedures. This past week we talked about what it means to be a PAX Leader at BBHES and the students learned about expected and unexpected behaviors. An unexpected behavior is also known at BBHES as a "spleem".
Please remember to check your child's take home folder DAILY. There are times when a child places papers into the mailbox that I have passed out the previous day. Then, I have no way of knowing who they belong to.
On Friday, I sent home information about ordering books from Scholastic. Scholastic books are a great way to build your child's home library with quality materials at a significant savings. You can access books from preschool through middle school for younger/older siblings/family. Books make great gifts, too. Below is the link to order books. The first time you log in you will need to create an account with our class code: L9KN9 . You can choose to have your book order shipped to our classroom or directly to your home. Every order earns Bonus Points for FREE Books and resources for our class! Please feel free to share this link and our class code with extended family and neighbors. They get the savings and our class gets the rewards:) Thank you for your support.

Last week, your child got to go visit the school library for book check out time during specials. The library book they have checked out needs to be returned the next time they visit the media center/library. I will do my best to always remember to post the specials schedule for the week in my weekly updates. When the day says "book check out" day you will know they are visiting the library that day and library books are due. I find it best that your child keeps their library book in their bookbags at all times. Of course, I want them to use the book at home so when they are finished, please have them immediately put it back in their backpacks so it does not get lost and they always have it. If your child does not have their library book to return on "book check out" day, they cannot check out another book until it is returned.
Please be sure to read the family letters that come home regarding what your child is learning in English Language Arts (ELA: CKLA-Knowledge and Skills) and Ready Math. Those letters provide you with the most accurate insight into our curriculum and what you can do to support your child's learning at home. My website will mostly focus on updating you on general classroom happenings, reminders, and updates.
I would like to introduce to you a very special person that will be a part of our classroom this school year. Mrs. Tomford is one of our reading intervention teachers and she will be helping out and providing extra support during center time.

Dear Kindergarten Families,
We have had a successful 1st week of Kindergarten. I am enjoying getting to know all of my students. Everyone is off to a great start and have adjusted so well to the classroom and to our school.
I want to thank all the parents for all of the extra supply donations. The extra supplies will be put to good use this school year. I appreciate everyone's generosity.
Please remember to check your child's take home folder DAILY. There are times when a child places papers into the mailbox that I have passed out the previous day. Then, I have no way of knowing who they belong to.
We have snack time everyday in Kindergarten. Please pack your child a healthy NUT FREE/PEANUT FREE snack daily and label it with your child's name along with the word "snack" so there is no confusion.

Tuesday: MUSIC
Wednesday: Book Check Out
Thursday: PE
Friday: STEM
I wanted to let you know what to expect regarding curriculum updates and school wide updates this school year. I will not be posting updates on our curriculum or updates. Instead, you will receive hard copy newsletters directly from our curriculum:
Ready Math – Math newsletters will come home at the start of each lesson (usually on Mondays). These will give you an overview of what your child will be learning during that week.
CKLA Skills – A Skills newsletter will come home in two parts. The first newsletter will come home at the beginning of each unit and give an overview of tricky words and concepts being taught in that unit. You will also get daily practice pages that describe
Tips for supporting your child at home
Topics to discuss with your child about their learning
Tricky words
Phonemic awareness skills we are practicing
CKLA Knowledge – A Knowledge newsletter will come home by unit and will share what your child is learning in this part of our curriculum.
School Events and News-Mrs. Toth sends out a weekly newsletter to families with important information regarding school events, reminders, and news. You should have received her 2nd one of the year Sunday around 1pm. If you are not on her mailing list, please make sure you sign up here!
If there is anything important for you to know regarding our classroom only, I will post an update on my website under "Class News". I will also send out a Remind text on the Remind app letting you know that I have updated my website.
Please be sure that the Skills 1 workbook from our CKLA program that you took home on your child's phase-in day stays at home and not in your child's bookbag. I have seen many of these workbooks in bookbags and they are meant for home only and completing the pages in the book are optional.
Thank you for your continued support—I’m looking forward to a great year of learning together!
Enjoy Labor Day weekend!
-Mrs. Moroney :)
